The science of physical health that deals with the prevention and treatment of multiple neuromusculoskeletal and organic disorders.
Osteopathy is a manual diagnostic and therapeutic approach to joint and tissue mobility dysfunctions in general, and their relationship to the onset of disease. Osteopathy is based on the fact that all body systems work together and are related, therefore all disorders of one system can affect the functioning of others. All osteopathic treatments are aimed at maintaining or restoring the overall body balance, thus achieving a state of wellness, and preventing the onset of disease.
Osteopathic intervention could have an impact especially in pre-pathological states, that is, in phases of functional disorder, of initial symptomatic manifestations, but due to lack of information or health culture, most of the time osteopathic treatment is sought in advanced phases of the health alteration.
In these cases, osteopathy also facilitates the inherent mechanisms of self-regulation, allowing the body to recover and achieve normalization of the altered functions, which translates into a decrease in symptoms and a return to a state of health.
Aimed at improving the musculoskeletal apparatus and posture, dysfunctions of the spine and peripheral joints. Structural osteopathy is used to treat cervical pain, low back pain, herniated discs, sprains, shoulder problems, musculoskeletal pain…
Visceral osteopathy is concerned with normalizing organs and viscera, improving their function.
The function of the manipulations on the digestive system is mainly to release adhesions that may hinder the blood supply of the digestive system, improve sequelae of surgery and sequelae of infections.
Through the treatment of the viscera we improve its mobility and relationships that can cause back pain, lumbago, period pain, headaches, postural problems, constipation, poor digestion, tendinitis ….
It focuses on cranial problems and their influence on the central nervous system. Manual techniques are used to release and facilitate the micromobility of the skull and the craniosacral relationship as a whole through the meningeal membranes and the role of the cerebrospinal fluid.
By treating the skull and the cranial-sacral set, we can act to improve posture, after-effects of trauma, muscular imbalances, headaches, vertigo and dizziness, digestive, hearing, vascular and even vision problems. It is very effective in stress, especially for its relaxing action. Cranial techniques are also used in children and infants, especially when they have suffered a difficult delivery.
